In this lecture, you will learn how to derive mechanical engineering phenomenon as a formula and obtain the result using a computer program. Before classes, you watch web lecture such as Harvard CS50 to learn the programming language; Scratch, C, Python, and Matlab. In the class, you selects engineering problems (linear equation, vector matrix, data analysis) and solve it with computer programing.

Statics introduces the basic concepts of classical mechanics that are essential for solid mechanics, dynamics, fluid mechanics, etc. Vector operations based on the static equilibrium of particle and rigid body, structural analysis is presented. The two-dimensional and three-dimensional free-body diagram and the reaction forces of the structure, trusses, frames is studied.

Geometric modeling studies data structure and algorithms for the mathematical description of shapes. The shapes studied in geometric modeling are mostly 2d or 3 dimensional. Today most geometric modeling is done with computers and for computer based applications. 3d models are central to computer aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM), and widely used in mechanical engineering. The Visual C++ programing language and OpenGL library is used to visualize 3 dimensional geometries on computer graphics. The beginners who don't understand programing language will used commercial CAD/CAM software to practice design and manufacturing of mechanical products.
